Type Locality and Naming

Along the Terikbaba Mountains, Ziaetdin Mountains. V.S. Korsakov et al., 1984 (1993f.). Stratotype in the Terikbaba Mountains.

Synonym: Terikbabinskaya Formation, Терикбабинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestones, dolomitic limestones, dolomites. Thickness 200-320m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformably overlies the Katadzhar Fm in the south of the Zirabulak Mountains and the Ovhanin Fm in the north

Upper contact

Gradually transitions to the Pyazyn Fm.

Regional extent

North and south slopes of the Zirabulak Mountains (Devanasai, Altayaul); Ziaetdin Mountains (Terikbaba, Turuntau) and others. Age equivalent to the Dzhengeldin Fm (165; 460)

Fossils

Contains corals - Nuratina asiatica Kim et Lel.; stromatoporoids - Simplexodictyon sp. (cf. podolicum Yavor.) and others; brachiopods - Conchidium ex gr. knighti Sow and others
